Two Golf Academy members have been rewarded for their fine recent form with an invitation to a prestigious national competition.
Reuben Bather and Charley Simpson, Year 12 and 10 pupils at Rydal Penrhos, will travel to The Forest of Arden Golf Club this week for the Alexander Quin Invitational, which is a world ranking event run by the Independent Schools’ Golf Association.
This is the first time that the school has been invited to compete at the event, which represents another huge milestone for the thriving Golf Academy provision at Rydal Penrhos.
Welsh U18 international Reuben has enjoyed another exceptional summer littered with achievements, which saw the sports scholar and scratch handicapper enhance his reputation as one of the brightest young prospects anywhere on the continent.
This included a Cardigan Cup success with the Welsh squad and a Division II gold medal at the European Boys’ Team Championships, securing Division I status for the national set-up going forward.
Golf Academy Wales member Charley has achieved a considerable amount in recent weeks, whish culminated in the aspiring golfer being crowned Welsh U14 national champion after a sterling effort against some of the best young talent in the country.
He also played a significant role in the Denbighshire squad that secured a notable success over Cheshire, and Charley was part of the Rydal Penrhos team that qualified for the ISGA National Matchplay finals after being crowned Northern Area champions.
Both will test their skills on the Arden and Aylesford courses during the event, with each competitor competing off scratch.
