Hundreds raised from Hello Yellow Day fundraiser
October 12, 2020

Rydal Penrhos was a sea of yellow to raise funds and awareness for a national campaign surrounding children’s mental health.

Prep and Senior School pupils at Rydal Penrhos lent their support to Hello Yellow Day, which is an initiative organised by Young Minds UK, which is an organisation leading the fight for a future where all children’s mental health issues are supported and empowered, whatever the challenges.

Pupils from Pre-School to Sixth Form came into school dressed in one item of yellow attire, with some even coming in clothing that was completely yellow. This was something that staff also got involved with, which is always a source of great excitement at the Prep.

There were a host of exciting activities for pupils to participate in during form time within their respective bubbles, which also included a blindfold art competition that brought some interesting final designs!

After a fantastic day for a very worthy cause, the Prep School effort raised £276 for the charity, with the Senior School also raising a considerable amount that has yet to be calculated.

This event was the first in a series of fundraising initiatives put on by Prep School staff and the Sixth Form Charity Committee, which is led by Year 13 pupils Morgan Kendall and Lara Pyves.

The school raised thousands from similar events during the previous academic year, which has provided much-needed funds for regional and national causes.

Rydal Penrhos has a rich and proud history of fundraising for worthy causes throughout the region and beyond. The school is proud of its community involvement, which was further evident with the extraordinary efforts to help those in need during the first coronavirus pandemic lockdown.

This included a PPE project that created thousands of protective masks for NHS staff and keyworker facilities, opening boarding accommodation for critical keyworkers and holding keyworker childcare not only for Rydal Penrhos parents, but also the wider community.
