Looking Ahead: Rydal Penrhos Set For Busy End to the Academic Year
June 2, 2023

With term set to resume shortly, there is plenty to look forward to across the final month of the academic year at Rydal Penrhos.

The first half of the term at Rydal Penrhos was a whirlwind of activity and excitement for everyone in the school community. From thrilling sports competitions to captivating guest speakers, the past few weeks have been nothing short of memorable. Over the final two days before half-term alone, there was Sports Day, where pupils showcased their athletic prowess and team spirit, and the school’s second ‘Lunch With’ event, which saw David Evans, the owner of Dylan’s, share fascinating insights into the world of entrepreneurship.

As the final half-term of the year approaches next week, there are several events on the horizon that promise to make it a happy and memorable one:

Year 12 visit to the Liverpool UCAS Exhibition (Friday 9 June)

This exhibition holds significant importance for our Year 12 pupils as they approach their final year of school. It provides them with valuable insights into various careers and university options. The 2023 Liverpool UCAS exhibition is expected to feature a wide range of exhibitors and informative sessions to guide pupils in making informed decisions about their future.

Prep Production of ‘Mystery at Magpie Manor’ (Wednesday 14 and Thursday 15 June)

Following the success of last year’s ‘Paws and Claws’ production, our talented pupils will showcase their acting skills and detective prowess in this Roaring 20s whodunit thriller. Prepare to be captivated as our pupils don fringes, feathers, and detective caps, bringing you two unforgettable evenings of intrigue and glamour.

Speech Day and Leaver’s Ball (Saturday 24 June)

Speech Day is an eagerly anticipated event for our examination classes. The traditional annual gathering will feature inspirational speeches from the day’s speakers and a prizegiving ceremony. In the evening, the Class of 2023 will celebrate their achievements at the Leaver’s Ball, held in the historic Osborn Hall. This unforgettable night will mark their transition into the esteemed Rydal Penrhos Society, with each pupil receiving a commemorative pin from its President, Mr Farnell.

‘Henry the Tudor Dude’ (Tuesday 27 June to Thursday 29 June)

Expect a performance full of energy and enthusiasm as our latest production for Years 7 to 10 takes place. Rehearsals for this fun, energetic, and informative play by Kjartan Poskitt are already well underway. This rock-and-roll musical will take the audience on a journey through the life of Henry VIII, England’s most outrageous monarch, delighting both our budding actors and the audience.

Prep Speech Day (Friday 30 June)

We thoroughly look forward to celebrating the achievements of our youngest pupils. The Pre-Prep and Prep Speech Days will prove proud moments for parents as their children are recognized for their hard work and dedication. The event will showcase the remarkable day-to-day progress our Pre-School and Prep pupils make in all their pursuits; academic, sporting and extra-curricular.

Whole School Walkathon (Monday 3 July)

The successor to last year’s much-loved event will bring the entirety of Rydal Penrhos together for a day of walking and fun under the sun. The event aims to support Rydal Penrhos’ charity partner, Sense. Sense is a remarkable organization that provides support and assistance to individuals with sensory impairments, ensuring they can lead fulfilling lives.

As we prepare to welcome everyone back after the half-term break, we eagerly anticipate these exciting events that lie ahead. The second half of the term at Rydal Penrhos promises to be filled with inspiration, talent, celebration, and community engagement. We look forward to sharing these incredible moments with our pupils, parents, staff, and the wider Rydal Penrhos community.

See you all on Monday!
