Mrs Davies’ weekly blog: December 16
December 16, 2019

Lovely to see the Prep School twinkling through all of the current gloomy weather, a real beacon of Christmas light!

We had some wonderful events last week. On Monday evening, Years 3-6 gave us the Prep Christmas Concert in the senior school Memorial Hall which was almost filled to capacity.

Some beautiful singing and playing combined to create a truly Christmassy atmosphere and every single mince pie was gone by the end!

Well done to all of the pupils and, of course, Mr Williams and Mr McGuiness, our fabulous music duo.

Also on Monday, some of our Pre-School pupils went down to Merton Place care home to entertain the residents with their favourite Christmas songs. If you have chance to watch the video on the website you will see the enthusiasm they put into this; it’s obvious that they get this from their teachers… a beautiful rendition of Jingle Bells by staff and pupils alike!

On Wednesday, everyone was treated to the Pre-Prep and Pre-School Christmas musical, ‘Christmas with the Aliens’.

This event is always a popular favourite with our families and it certainly didn’t disappoint. 59 pupils, aided by 23 staff (in various capacities) made sure that every member of the audience was completely drawn into this ‘play within a play’ and all of the smiles and mini stage ‘hiccups’ made for a brilliant show.

The photographs are on the website and can also be ordered through our marketing department at DCJones@rydalpenrhos.com.

Last Friday we sent five teams to Liverpool College to play rugby, hockey and netball. We heard the results in assembly this morning and all teams played well.

A particular mention should go to the netballers who won with a convincing score line of 13-3. This term we have played 23 fixtures across the Prep School, many of which were tournaments. We have had some great wins and some good ‘development opportunities’!

Throughout the term there has been a marked positive progression in level and also, at nearly every fixture, we have received compliments from other coaches, teachers and parents about the fabulous behaviour and sportsman/sportswomanship shown by our pupils.

We are proud of all of our players and thank every one of the teachers and coaches who have worked with them this term. Well done indeed!
