Rydal Penrhos is delighted to announce that rally driver, mechanic, presenter and marketing manager Jade Paveley will headline the inaugural edition of our new ‘Lunch With…’ events, designed to introduce pupils and parents to inspirational individuals from the local community.
Strengthening our connection to the local community is a real priority for Rydal Penrhos. As a registered charity supporting the prospects of children and young people from the North Wales area, the school recognises the importance of always keeping the local and national context in mind when delivering high quality academic, sporting and extracurricular provision.
A prime example of this would be Rydal Penrhos’ efforts to ensure that pupils benefit from the wealth of knowledge, experience and talent that can be found in North Wales. As pupils negotiate the often-difficult process of choosing a pathway for later life, it would be remiss not to capitalise on the wisdom and experience of local heroes, many of whom are already part of the Rydal Penrhos community either as parents, alumni or commercial partners.
With this in mind, Rydal Penrhos is delighted to announce a new series of events that will introduce pupils and parents to a series of inspirational individuals from across the region. We are excited to say that our first guest will be rally driver, mechanic, media personality and marketing manager Jade Paveley, who will visit Rydal Penrhos on Friday 31 March 2023.
Originating from the Llandudno area, Jade began her competitive motorsports career at just 15 years of age, taking on some of the brightest karting prospects in the country. Just two years later, she entered the world of endurance racing, becoming the youngest driver to compete in a UK 24hr race when she raced at the legendary Silverstone circuit.
By age 19, Jade followed in the footsteps of her father David as she began her rallying career. Behind the wheel of one of rallying’s most iconic cars – the Subaru Impreza – Jade made an immediate impact. In her first full season in the Welsh Tarmac Championship in 2018, she finished first in the junior championship, third overall and won the prestigious King of Epynt Championship.
Since then, Jade has been chosen to drive for a number of automotive giants – including Jaguar and Kia – and has also driven in the British Cross County Championships, or BXCC, winning the T2 Class. When not behind the wheel herself, Jade has made a name for herself as an accomplished presenter and analyst, bringing her expertise to coverage of various WRC and ERC rallies.
Jade has featured on the BBC Sport website as part of both a ‘Women in Motorsport’ feature and a mini documentary covering the story of Wales Rally GB being taken off the WRC calendar due to Covid. During the pandemic, Jade set up her own podcast, ‘Motorsport Now’, which has seen a number of excellent guests from the world of motor racing including former Formula 1 driver and Sky Sports F1 presenter Karun Chandhok.
Since 2020, Jade has been the Marketing Director for North Wales Motor Co. Ltd, which was founded in 2012 and has since grown to include a team of over 21 local people. Drawing upon her rich and diverse range of experience, Jade has moved into the field of public speaking, delivering talks at both major events and educational settings.
We thoroughly look forward to Jade’s visit, during which she will highlight the transferable skill sets involved in motorsports beyond driving and explain her journey through motorsport, including the ups and downs and how she was able to overcome the challenges along the way.
Jade’s visit will be the first in our series of ‘Lunch With….’ featuring members of our local business community and members of our Rydal Penrhos alumni as we seek to inspire and equip our young people as they embark on their career path.
