The draw has been made for next weekend’s Rydal Penrhos U16 Rugby 7s tournament.

A host of school sides from the region will descend on New Field for the annual competition, which is set to take place on Saturday, March 14.

Hopefuls will play a round-robin format in two groups before competing for various trophies in a knockout format.

Group A will feature Stockport Grammar School, Merchant Taylors’ School, Cathedral School and Stonyhurst College.

It will also consist of Wirral Grammar School, Christ College Brecon and Altrincham Grammar School.

Rydal Penrhos take their place in Group B alongside Manchester Grammar School, Ellesmere College, Cheadle Hulme School, Llandovery College, Calday Grange School and Birkenhead School.

Following the group stages, teams will be divided into Cup, Plate, Bowl, Trophy and Shield depending on their placings in each pool.

Rydal Penrhos’ ground staff are working tirelessly to make surfaces playable after torrential rain over the last month, and a further update on the conditions will be made early next week.
