Rydal Penrhos: Alun Brown named Head of Sixth Form
July 8, 2020

Rydal Penrhos is thrilled to announce the appointment of Alun Brown as its new Head of Sixth Form.

The experienced figure, who is also Head of Rydal Penrhos senior school’s Health and Wellbeing faculty, will be taking over from Leah Crimes, who recently took over the Headship at St Brigid’s in Denbigh.

Mr Brown began his career at The Windsor Boys’ School as a teacher of English and assistant director of rowing. He then moved on to Monmouth School, where he took on numerous roles that included Housemaster, Master in charge of Junior Rowing and Combined Cadet Force.

This was followed by a stint abroad at Whanganui Collegiate School in New Zealand as Housemaster, director of rowing and teacher of English, before Mr Brown returned to the northern hemisphere to become assistant head of Sixth Form at Elizabeth College.

Prior to joining Rydal Penrhos, Mr Brown enjoyed a period of employment at Cranbrook School as an English teacher, senior housemaster, master in charge of rowing and worked with their CCF group.

Mr Brown played a pivotal role in the formation of Rydal Penrhos’ own CCF in recent months, which has received an extremely positive response from pupils.

Sally-Ann Harding, Head of Rydal Penrhos senior school, said: “We are delighted that Alun has agreed to become our new Head of Sixth Form, and we are confident he is going to bring a significant amount to the role.

“He has been a huge part of school life since arriving here, quickly becoming a valuable member of our incredible teaching staff.

“Alun’s all-round qualities typify our strong academic ethos mixed with an exceptional extra-curricular programme, and he will continue the superb work carried out by Leah during her time at the school.”

Rydal Penrhos is now able to offer socially distanced tours to prospective pupils and their families. For more information email admissions@rydalpenrhos.com or book online at https://rydal.wpengine.com/open-days-visits.
