Rydal Penrhos is delighted to announce an exceptional team of Deputy Heads of School for the upcoming 2023/24 academic year.
Our Deputy Heads of School are invaluable members of the Senior Prefect Team. Not only do they support and complement the work of our Heads of School, but the Deputy Heads of School also play a central role in leading the Sixth Form, organising Prefect duties, speaking at school events, and representing Rydal Penrhos both in- and outside the school community.
For the upcoming academic year Rydal Penrhos is delighted to appoint Lily Davies, Oliver Davies, Eve Durrans and Kosi Iwobi as Deputy Heads of School. These four pupils have made a hugely positive contribution to school life and represent the very best of our school community and all the values and virtues we hope to see from our young people.
Lily is one of our many academic high-flyers in our school, having achieved an amazing seven A*s and four 9s at GCSE, alongside a Distinction in Additional Maths. Away from the classroom, the talented pupil has seen her efforts in both sports and drama rewarded. She recently received her LAMDA Gold Award, and is not only a regular starter for Rydal Penrhos’ First XI Hockey and Netball sides, but has also represented the local region as part of the North Wales U18s hockey team.
Oliver has achieved a similar level of sporting success. A frequent participant in first team sports matches, he was a member of the Rydal Penrhos U18 boys’ hockey team that secured a memorable Welsh national championship victory when they travelled to Cardiff earlier this year. A valuable member of our Sixth Form community, Oliver put in an award-winning effort at this year’s UKMT Senior Maths Challenge and is a fully qualified peer mentor.
Having joined Rydal Penrhos in Year 4, Eve has enjoyed many successful years at Rydal Penrhos. Like Lily, she is a prodigious sports person, and has played hockey for both the North Wales U18 XI and the Eirias Ladies’ First XI. She is currently working towards The Duke of Edinburgh’s Gold Award and recently achieved a Distinction in her Silver LAMDA exam. Displaying the characteristic selflessness of a Rydal Penrhos pupil, Eve volunteers picking up litter around Colwyn Bay.
Similarly, Kosi has been volunteering every single week by helping in the Rydal Penrhos Pre-School. Kosi is an exceptional academic who secured seven A*s, one 9 and one A in his GCSEs, alongside a Distinction in Additional Mathematics, and Distinction 2 in Engineering. Possessing a tremendous aptitude for STEM subjects, the Year 12 pupil is not only studying towards A-Levels in Chemistry, Physics and Further Maths, but is also an important member of the school’s Python Club, which develops pupils’ skills in the computer programming language.
Rydal Penrhos is delighted to be able to appoint such wonderful individuals to these important positions within our Senior Prefect Team. We would like to congratulate Lily, Oliver, Eve, and Kosi on their new roles. We are confident that, alongside our new Heads of School, our Deputy Heads of School will form a talented and effective team that will lead the school and set the standard for pupils of all ages.
All the best, team!
