With British Science Week fast approaching, Rydal Penrhos Senior girls have already immersed themselves in the spirit of discovery, attending a prestigious STEM conference hosted by Bangor University.
At Rydal Penrhos, curiosity is never confined to a lesson plan.
It is nurtured across our whole-school culture: in laboratories and classrooms, through extracurricular opportunities, and in the wider world beyond the campus.
We believe the most powerful learning happens when pupils are encouraged to ask brave questions, test ideas, collaborate thoughtfully, and see how knowledge can shape society for the better.
That is why British Science Week feels such a natural fit for our educational ethos.
Taking place from 6 to 15 March 2026, British Science Week is a ten-day UK-wide celebration of science, technology, engineering and maths, designed to spark interest and inspire participation at every age. This year’s theme—rooted in curiosity and questioning—aligns perfectly with how we encourage pupils to think: with independence, creativity, and intellectual ambition.
Our pupils are already building momentum. Last week, a group of Year 10 girls represented Rydal Penrhos at the Next Gen Girls in STEM Conference (25 February 2026), hosted by Bangor University. It featured an inspiring, hands-on programme developed to show how STEM connects to real-world innovation and future careers.
Working alongside university experts and mentors, the girls explored interactive activities such as coding a Sphero robot, becoming “data detectives” through puzzle-solving, and discovering how mathematics powers modern marketing.
The experience was thoroughly enjoyed by all—sparking fresh curiosity, strengthening confidence, and reinforcing ideas that will translate into successful exam results.
As British Science Week approaches, we look forward to celebrating that same spirit across school—championing inquisitive minds, growing scientific literacy, and empowering the next generation of problem-solvers.
