Conwy Excellence Fund: Opportunity Opens for Talented Rydal Penrhos Pupils
January 13, 2025

A new Conwy funding opportunity is an exciting prospect for Rydal Penrhos’ talented sportspeople, actors, musicians and academics.

At Rydal Penrhos, we are continually inspired by the incredible achievements of our pupils. Whether excelling in sport, the arts, or academic pursuits, the talents within our community are extraordinary. We are proud to support and celebrate their successes as they aim for new heights in their chosen fields.

That is why we are delighted to share news of an exciting opportunity for our pupils and their families. Applications are now open for the Conwy Excellence Fund, an initiative organised by Conwy County Borough Council to support young people who demonstrate exceptional promise education or the arts, or play sport at international level.

This fund offers grants of up to £800 to those under 30 years old, helping them access resources and opportunities to further develop their talents. The funding can be used for a variety of purposes, including purchasing equipment essential for their progress, covering costs for advanced training, and assisting with travel or accommodation expenses for competitions, events, or performances.

Many of our pupils at Rydal Penrhos already compete at national levels in sport or showcase exceptional talent in music, drama, or art. This fund could be a vital stepping stone in supporting their journeys towards excellence.

Applications for the current round of funding close on Friday 7 February 2025, so we encourage families to act quickly. Detailed information, including eligibility criteria and application guidelines, can be found on the official Conwy Council Excellence Fund website.

We strongly encourage all eligible members of our Rydal Penrhos community to take advantage of this opportunity. Rydal Penrhos has long recognised the importance of supporting talented young people with the equipment and resources they need. Recipients of a Scholarship Premium – one of the main types of scholarship and bursary awards offered by the school – receive £500 per year (or £750 in Sixth Form) to support their educational pursuits, along with guidance from a dedicated mentor.
