Pre-School children at Rydal Penrhos got the chance to enjoy a Winter Wonderland during a special Forest School session.
Rydal Penrhos has the most incredible woodland area available on site and so it is a natural progression for us to have developed a comprehensive Forest School provision.
This exciting natural environment focuses on providing a safe outdoor learning experience, one in which children are encouraged to explore, discover, investigate and take suitable risks.
There were plenty of festive themes for Pre-School children to enjoy during their latest Forest School session, which took on a Winter Wonderland theme and was thoroughly enjoyed by all involved.
They are so fortunate to be able to have regular forest or coastal sessions during their early development, but this time was extra special. Upon arriving at the Forest School, snow descended to make it even more special!
The younger Pre-Schoolers practised new words like ‘snowflake’, and some of the older children were delighted to find out they could make it start snowing by shouting Abracadabra.
The children looked for Buddy the Elf in the woods before eventually spotting the cheeky chap hiding in the trees. Buddy joined them for hot chocolate or hot blackcurrant, toast and marshmallows, which were toasted on the fire.
Pre-Schoolers are already fully aware of safety by the fire from previous Forest School sessions. They all sang songs and read Christmas stories.
The children all said our goodbyes to Buddy the elf as he had to go back and help Santa get ready for the big day. This festive activity concluded with everyone running down the snowy path, eager to get back to the classrooms.
This was part of an action-packed series of Christmas activities put on at Rydal Penrhos, which always sends pupils from Pre-School to Sixth Form away on their festive break in good spirits.
