Rydal Penrhos has released information regarding upcoming events during the period of National Mourning to mark the passing of Queen Elizabeth II.
The country is now in a period of national mourning following the sad passing of Queen Elizabeth II. Rydal Penrhos is mindful of this and will be taking advice from the Welsh Government and the Welsh Independent Schools Council throughout the week.
Our incredible and compassionate staff team will be giving the pupils plenty of opportunities to discuss national events at this time if they choose. The school has also opened Books of Condolence for pupils, parents and staff to leave their tributes to Britain’s longest-serving Monarch.
Anyone wishing to write a message can do so at the Prep and Senior reception desks.
The Government announced that this period of national mourning will continue until the end of Queen Elizabeth II’s state funeral, which is set to take place on Monday 19 September.
Following advice from the Welsh Government and the Welsh Independent Schools Council, Rydal Penrhos has decided to postpone certain events in the coming days.
The following will no longer take place this week:
- Pre-School and Key Stage One Welcome Evening
- Key Stage Two Welcome Evening
- Year 7 Meet the Tutor Evening
- Sixth Form Residential
- Inter-school fixtures
The school will be letting parents know shortly about arrangements regarding the funeral on Monday, which has been declared a national Bank Holiday by King Charles III.
Curriculum lessons and extra-curricular clubs across Rydal Penrhos are continuing during the national mourning period.
