With the start of a new school year drawing near, Rydal Penrhos pupils have participated in a comprehensive two-day pre-season training camp to ensure they are well-prepared for the sporting year ahead.
Preparedness is a key quality that we encourage in all Rydal Penrhos pupils. Providing our children and young people the tools to be ready for the challenges and opportunities they face is an essential part of our educational provision.
Academically, there are countless examples, from the multiple rounds of mock examinations during the year, teaching our pupils the skills they will need to be successful in the exam hall, to the Easter GCSE Revision Courses that provide a welcome final boost ahead of the summer term.
From a sporting perspective, a prime example has recently played out in the form of this year’s pre-season training camp, which took place across two days from Wednesday 30 to Thursday 31 August.
Our Head of Sport, Mr Kirby, said:
“A really positive pre-season with great energy and effort from all pupils. Our Senior pre-season consisted of Girls’ Hockey and Netball, Boys’ Hockey and Rugby, a recovery swim in the sea, pizza making and a quiz.
“We also hosted Bradford Grammar School for their pre-season which we took full advantage of, playing a competitive Rugby fixture on Thursday afternoon. Thank you, Bradford Grammar School, for some great games of rugby. We wish you all the very best for this season.
“I would like to thank our sport coaches, Miss Doran, Mr Wilkinson, and Mr Rippon for all their efforts over the last two days. It’s an exciting time for Rydal Penrhos Sport and we cannot wait to hit the ground running with lots of fixtures coming up.”
Thank you, Mr Kirby! Our pupils’ enthusiasm and commitment bode well for the forthcoming season, which we look forward to sharing with parents, family members, alumni, and friends of the school through our website and social channels including Facebook and Instagram.
