Three Rydal Penrhos pupils came away from their recent LAMDA assessments with a prestigious Gold Medal Award after years of hard work.
We are incredibly proud of the accomplishments attained within Rydal Penrhos’ thriving Speech and Drama provision. This is something many pupils of all year groups participate in during their time at the school, which involves working towards specific examinations and also putting on various shows throughout the academic year.
At the centre of Speech and Drama is communication. It allows pupils to express themselves and understand others in new and exciting ways whilst providing training in the very practical aspects necessary in today’s ever-changing world.
Pupils who have participated in Speech and Drama activities are less likely to have difficulty speaking in public, will be more persuasive in their communication, better able to be empathetic and will have a more positive, confident self-image.
The latest batch of assessments administered by the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art saw three pupils – Bella Rutherford, Darcie Harker-Weston and Sophie Williams – attempt to secure their Gold Medal (Grade 8) awards in various disciplines.
The trio worked exceptionally hard in the build-up under the guidance of Speech and Drama tutor Christina Bloomfield, something which brought some outstanding results.
Bella achieved a Distinction in her Grade 8 (Acting Solo), with Darcie also securing the same mark in her Grade 8 (Devising Drama).
Rounding off the success was Sophie, who also managed to attain a Distinction in her Grade 8 (Acting Solo).
All three pupils are now proud owners of a LAMDA Gold Medal Award, adding their names to the long list of Rydal Penrhos pupils who’ve achieved the same feat.
More than 40 pupils took part in the latest LAMDA examinations at the school, and a full rundown of all their marvellous results will be published later this week.
On behalf of everyone at Rydal Penrhos, we would like to congratulate Bella, Darcie and Sophie on such a fantastic achievement. We are very proud of you all.
