A talented sailing squad member at Rydal Penrhos has secured a prestigious national squad selection for the second consecutive season.
Llion Morris, a Year 9 pupil at the school, will once again be part of the ITCA GBR National Topper Squad for their winter training programme in the coming months.
This represents a significant milestone for the pupil as there are only 25 squad places available for the programme, and Llion will now embark on a series of additional training sessions to further enhance his development.
It has been another campaign full of significant achievements for the teenager, who has developed his skills considerably since his involvement with the school’s RYA accredited Sailing Centre.
This has resulted in a series of impressive competition triumphs over the summer, which culminated in a tremendous victory in the Topper fleet at the British Youth Sailing Welsh Regional Championships, meaning Llion now currently holds all three national Topper titles, a feat only achieved by two other sailors previously.
Senior School Head Sally Ann Harding, said: “Llion’s ongoing commitment to his sailing is matched by his incredible ability to thrive on a consistent basis within a competitive setting, and he is thoroughly deserving of a place in the ITCA GBR National Topper Squad.
“He has emerged as a fantastic role model to younger sailing squad members and is always looking to improve not only his own abilities, but others around him which is a fantastic trait to have.”
