Staggering effort from Cross-Country squad at IAPS Championships
October 3, 2019

Rydal Penrhos Prep School’s cross-country squad produced an exceptional display at a competitive event recently.

The school’s hopefuls travelled to Manchester for the IAPS Cross-Country Championships, which saw various age groups compete in the hope of securing success at the high-profile competition.

There was plenty to celebrate from a Rydal Penrhos perspective, with the undoubted highlight coming in the U10 girls’ race, with the Prep School sweeping the board with all three podium places.

After a hugely competitive event Robyn Borg-Barthet crossed the line in first position, narrowly ahead of teammate Harper Burke in second and Sophie Morris in third.

The talented duo of Ella Payne and Eryn Mart finished second and third respectively in the U9 girls’ category, with Ava Culver also performing well to cross the line in 17th.

Francesca Berklay and Lissy Williams both gave a very good account in the U8 girls’ event, finishing 18th and 19th from their first real taste of high-quality competitive racing.

Not to be outdone, the boys also managed to secure some really impressive results for their respective competitions, with James Davies and Felix Griffin both sealing top-ten places in the U10 event on their way to fourth and sixth.

Oscar Jewsbury’s outstanding performance in the U9 race saw him attain third spot, and Finlay Brown also ran well to finish 12th.

Rounding off the achievements were Archie-Glyn Chesworth (7th), Harrison Simmons (6th) and James Mart (15th) in the U8 competition.
