At a time of change across the education sector, Rydal Penrhos School offers families the support, stability and confidence their child needs to begin their next chapter.
The announced closure of St Gerard’s School in Bangor is deeply saddening news for its pupils, families, staff and the wider North Wales educational community. We recognise the enormous contribution the school has made over many years and understand how difficult and unsettling this period will be for everyone affected.
At Rydal Penrhos, our immediate priority has been to support families with care, sensitivity and practical guidance. We have welcomed parents and pupils to dedicated open events, visited St Gerard’s and taken time to listen to individual circumstances, answer questions and help families explore the options available to them.
More broadly, this is a period of considerable change across the independent education sector, both in North Wales and across the UK. For families facing an unexpected move – as well as those who may simply be considering a different direction – stability, continuity and confidence in the future are more important than ever.
Rydal Penrhos offers that reassurance. Our growing pupil roll reflects the confidence families place in the school and the strength of our community. From September, we will divide Year 6 into two classes, creating our first two-form Prep year group for several years and allowing pupils to continue benefiting from small classes and highly personalised support.
Families choose Rydal Penrhos for our exceptional facilities, experienced teachers, outstanding examination results and strong commitment to pastoral care. Every pupil is known as an individual and supported academically, socially and emotionally throughout their school journey.
Admissions remain open for September 2026. Whether your family is navigating an unexpected change or considering a positive new beginning, we would be pleased to welcome you, listen to your needs and help make the transition as smooth as possible.
We are now finalising classes, timetables, courses and subject options for September. Families considering Rydal Penrhos are therefore encouraged to contact our Admissions team as soon as possible to discuss next steps.
