This special series features a more in-depth look at the wealth of enrichment opportunities available at Rydal Penrhos Senior School throughout the spring term.
Monday: Boys’ Hockey (Y10-13)
Rydal Penrhos’ senior hockey players begin their preparations ahead of the new season with sessions alongside experienced coach Dan Rippon.
They will be working on all facets of their game from a skills perspective and will also be looking closely at in-game situations such as positioning, retaining possession, movement and set-pieces.
This will aim to enhance cohesion ahead of what is expected to be another busy series of fixtures for the group once competitive action begins, with the current crop of hopefuls aiming to extend the school’s incredible history of success from a hockey perspective.
Rydal Penrhos has enjoyed a wealth of national competition triumphs in recent years, including a Welsh Schools’ Championships double at U16 and U18 level in 2018.
Upper Sixth Form duo Jacob Heaton-Rue and Jake Palmer-Reid have both earned Welsh honours in recent years, adding their name to the long list of former pupils that have secured international distinctions across a number of sporting disciplines.
Head of Physical Education Nicky Head, said: “These sessions will be invaluable for our senior hockey side ahead of the new season and are very much in keeping with the way we like to prepare our aspiring athletes here at Rydal Penrhos.
“Hopefully this will transcend into another memorable season for a squad that have grown together throughout their time at the school.”
