My first year at Rydal Penrhos senior: William
July 16, 2020

We caught up with members of Year 7 at Rydal Penrhos to find out what they’ve thought of their time in the senior school so far.

Seventh up in this series is William McLaughlin, who is a member of Wesley House at Rydal Penrhos and has been part of the school community since enrolling as a Year 5 pupil.

He integrated impressively with his peer group, and it is clear that he has enjoyed the experience of being a senior school pupil this year.

How have you found your first year at Rydal Penrhos senior school?

It is an interesting experience compared to Rydal Penrhos Prep School.  I have enjoyed the independence and freedom of walking around senior school.

What are the main differences between primary/prep and senior?

More independence, more homework.

How much support did you receive from the staff?

I received a lot of support from many of my teachers, helping me with the transition from prep to senior school

Have older members of the school community (Sixth Form) been helpful?

The older members of the school have been helpful with directions when I first started.

Favourite lessons?

I would probably say that Food Studies, Art and Maths were my favourite subjects.

Favourite memory?

In English with Mrs Crimes, I enjoyed acting out a court scene for Frankenstein, that was a lot of fun!

How did you find online learning during the lockdown?

Online learning was a very different experience to a normal school day.  I got used to it but I missed seeing my friends.

Rydal Penrhos is now able to offer socially distanced tours to prospective pupils and their families. For more information email admissions@rydalpenrhos.com, prep@rydalpenrhos.com or book online at https://rydalpenrhos.com/open-days-visits.
