RP hosts Conwy National Playday
September 5, 2019

Hundreds of children across the region descended on Rydal Penrhos School for a special community event.

Conwy’s annual celebration of National Playday welcomed children from all areas of the county to the Brackley rugby pitches for the free, four-hour event earlier.

Organised by Community and Voluntary Support Conwy, activities this year included constructing a cardboard city, den building, dress up, arts and crafts, cooking on a campfire, bunting making, a gloop kitchen, volleyball, messy play and more.

The event is held annually at Rydal Penrhos’ impressive site and was another wonderful success once again.

The purpose of the National Playday is to highlight that all children have a right to play, and demonstrate you don’t need expensive toys to play, a simple cardboard box can be a car, a den or a space rocket, essentially anything a child can imagine.

Plans are already being formed for the 12th annual event next summer.

Senior School Head Sally Ann Harding, said: “We were absolutely thrilled to host the Conwy National Playday here at Rydal Penrhos once again, and I would like to congratulate those involved for organising another wonderful event for children in the area.

“We are very proud of our community links and pride ourselves on do whatever we can to boost the profile of the Colwyn Bay and Conwy region whenever possible.”
