Rydal Penrhos Alumna Georgia Wilson Set to Compete at the 2024 Paralympic Games in Paris
August 28, 2024

Rydal Penrhos is proud to announce that Georgia Wilson, a former pupil of our school, will be competing in the 2024 Paralympic Games in Paris.

This marks Georgia’s second Paralympic appearance following her impressive debut in Tokyo, where she won two bronze medals for Team GB in the Grade II Dressage competition.

Georgia’s passion for equestrian sports began at a very young age. Encouraged by her physiotherapist to improve her balance, Georgia started riding at just two years old. From these early beginnings, she has developed into a world-class athlete, achieving remarkable success in Para Dressage.

Georgia’s journey to success has included a series of impressive achievements. Her breakthrough on the international stage came at the European Para Dressage Championships in Rotterdam in 2019, where she made an immediate impact by winning gold in the Grade II individual freestyle competition.

Her determination and hard work did not go unnoticed, as Georgia was honoured with the prestigious British Equestrian Federation Award in 2020, acknowledging her dedication and accomplishments in the sport.

Competing on her horse Sakura at the 2020 Paralympic Games in Tokyo, Georgia won two bronze medals in the Grade II individual test and freestyle events. This accomplishment was particularly notable, as she subbed in at the last minute to replace one of the most experienced members of Team GB.

At Rydal Penrhos, we are dedicated to nurturing the talents of our pupils and helping them achieve their full potential, both academically and in their chosen pursuits. Georgia’s journey to becoming an international Paralympic medallist embodies the resilience, dedication, and excellence we strive to instil in all our pupils.

As the 2024 Paralympic Games in Paris approach, the entire Rydal Penrhos community extends its best wishes to Georgia. We are confident that she will once again make us proud, and continue the wonderful sporting record of our alumni community.
