Rydal Penrhos is delighted to announce that three of its talented pupils have achieved the prestigious honour of representing Wales at the 2024 School Games National Finals.
Year 11 pupils Lily Copeland and Charlotte Payne and Year 12’s Fflur Pierce were selected for the Wales squad and are currently showcasing their skills at the tournament, taking place at Loughborough University.
The School Games National Finals is a prestigious four-day, biennial multi-sport event for young athletes of school age. Now in its 16th edition since the inaugural event in Glasgow in 2006, the Games bring together some of the most promising young talent in the country.
Being selected to represent Wales is a remarkable achievement for Lily, Charlotte, and Fflur, highlighting their dedication and talent in their sport. Competing at Loughborough University, one of the UK’s foremost producers of sporting talent, alongside some of the best young athletes in the country, is a fantastic opportunity for these exceptional players.
This achievement is the latest in a series of sporting successes for Rydal Penrhos, marking an outstanding year for the school’s sports programme.
This recent success is built upon a rich tradition of sporting excellence at the school. From early legends like Bleddyn Williams, the ‘Prince of Centres’, to modern heroes such as Georgia Wilson, our pupils have wonderful role models to inspire them.
As a school, we are immensely proud of both our storied figures from the past and our current pupils’ sporting achievements. We celebrate not only their contributions to Rydal Penrhos sports teams but also their individual progress and successes in playing for clubs, regions, and nations.
As the tournament continues, we wish Lily, Charlotte, and Fflur all the best. We are confident they will represent both their school and country with distinction, embodying our school ethos of ‘doing all the good you can’ on the hockey field.
