Following the Rydal Penrhos Senior Speech Day on Saturday 24 June, the Class of 2023 and their parents descended on the Osborn Hall for the Leavers’ Ball.
With tables carefully laid out and everyone dressed to the nines in their finest black-tie attire, the atmosphere was fantastic, in keeping with the beautiful venue. With the ornate Osborn Hall ceiling bathed in a soft orange glow from the uplighters, and the stained-glass windows lit by the low evening sunlight, the evening was yet another validation of the incredible work involved in restoring this beloved venue at the heart of Rydal Penrhos.
The evening began with a warm welcome from the Executive Principal, Mr Waszek, who then passed the baton to Mr Farnell, a long-serving teacher, and President of the Rydal Penrhos Society. Mr Farnell presented the Year 13 leavers with their Rydal Penrhos Society pins and spoke engagingly about the importance of their time at the school.
It was then the turn of the Catering Team to shine as they delivered a delicious three-course dinner. It began with a tantalizing Ballantine of Ham accompanied by a delectable Shallot and Fine Bean Dressing starter. The main course featured a succulent Supreme of Chicken served with Fondant Potato, Tender Stem Broccoli, and a divine Chicken and Herb Cream. The grand finale came in the form of a luscious Rich Dark Chocolate Cheesecake adorned with fresh Raspberries and a delightful Berry Gel. All were thoroughly well received, to say the least!
The DJ had kept a positive energy going throughout the evening, playing classic tunes that pleased both the younger and older guests, before the dancing proper began, with pupils descending onto the dancefloor. And to add some fun, a photobooth was available, complete with props and costumes for some memorable and hilarious snapshots!
A big thank you goes out to everyone involved in organizing this wonderful event. Their efforts made the Leavers’ Ball a truly memorable experience for all who attended. Although we are sad to say goodbye to this wonderful Year 13 class, the Leavers’ Ball proved a fitting final hoorah. Plus, we can look forward to welcoming back the Class of 2023 very soon, with Founders’ Weekend approaching on Friday 15 and Saturday 16 September 2023.
