Rydal Penrhos Prep School pupils have once again received acknowledgement for their outstanding work both at school and during their online learning thanks to an ongoing initiative.

As part of the school’s achievement scheme, pupils across all age groups were selected for accolades in recognition of their efforts throughout the week, which has seen all age groups tackle the ever-changing learning methods due to COVID-19 efficiently, confidently and with enthusiasm.

Their diverse and enriching timetable – which was adjusted from the first lockdown following parent feedback – has enabled the majority of lessons to remain the same – albeit in online form due to restrictions implemented by the Welsh Government – which has come as a result of an exceptional effort from Prep School teaching staff in the most unprecedented of circumstances.

In addition to the usual Stars of the Week, Art teacher Suzy Morris has been so impressed by the quality of work from pupils during their remote learning, she will now be dishing out an Artist of the Week for every Prep School year group in recognition of their incredible efforts to enhance creativity from the comfort of their own homes.

Mrs Morris, said: “I have been overwhelmed by the quality of the artwork that our children have produced during the lockdown, they really have been a pleasure to teach.”

Stars of the Week

• Reception: Albert – fabulous work on measuring in maths.
• Year 1: Immie – fantastic improvement with her handwriting and a long story written independently.
• Year 2: Phoebe – great attitude to work all week and real improvement in her spelling.
• Year 3: Vilena – super story writing about a mythical creature.
• Year 4: Freddie – writing a very empathetic letter from the point of view of a rainforest logger.
• Year 5: Finlay – advanced work on the properties of triangles in maths.
• Year 6: Ben – great perseverance with his poor internet connection (!) and super work for the RSPB bird watch.
