In recognition of the school’s commitment to supporting the Armed Forces community, Rydal Penrhos has been awarded prestigious new accolades.
At Rydal Penrhos, we understand the challenges and obstacles often faced by Armed Forces personnel and their families. This understanding not only deepens our appreciation for their dedication and sacrifice, but also inspires us to deliver outstanding educational and pastoral support for the service children in our care.
As we strive for constant improvement as a school, one of our current aims is to even better support and celebrate our service families. Our leadership team are focused on this task, and significant strides have been made.
Three weeks ago, the school officially signed the Armed Forces Covenant at an event in Venue Cymru. Now, Rydal Penrhos is celebrating as it has been awarded bronze status in both the Armed Forces Friendly Schools Cymru initiative and the Armed Forces Employer Recognition Scheme.
These accolades, bestowed by Supporting Service Children in Education (SSCE) Cymru, celebrate the school’s commitment to supporting service personnel and their families, whether as pupils, parents, or staff of the school.
In recent times, we have implemented a range of specific initiatives to further support and celebrate service families. This includes a dedicated point of contact, who has first-hand experience of the life of service families at the school. Additionally, the school is now able to deliver the very latest guidance and resources to families, thanks to its growing relationship with SSCE Cymru.
Of course, aside from specific measures for service families, service children benefit from all the core benefits of a Rydal Penrhos education. From outstanding pastoral support to exceptional teaching in small classes, which enabled Rydal Penrhos pupils to buck the negative national trend in GCSE and A-Level results last summer.
