Ahead of our pupils returning to school for the final weeks of the Advent Term, Rydal Penrhos offers a preview of some of the key events in the lead up to Christmas.
As we enter the final stretch of the term, it is scarcely believable that Christmas is just around the corner. At Rydal Penrhos, the run-up to Christmas is a special time of year, living up to its billing as ‘the most wonderful time of the year.’ Not only is this a deeply important time spiritually for us as a Methodist school, but it is also a time when our pupils take part in a range of cherished traditions that make the season truly magical.
In that spirit, we are delighted to preview five key events we have planned for the festive season:
Rydal Penrhos present ‘Grease’
Christmas and theatre go hand in hand, therefore we are delighted to present this year’s Senior production of ‘Grease’ on Monday 4 and Tuesday 5 December in the Memorial Hall. This Year 10 to 13 production is expected to be another show-stopping performance following the success of ‘Under Milk Wood‘ last year. Join us for an evening filled with some of the world’s best-loved songs and experience Senior Year at Rydell High. Our talented senior dramatists cannot wait to bring this 50s classic to life. Tickets are now available; please click here.
Rydal Penrhos Christmas Ball
The Rydal Penrhos Christmas Ball is open to all parents, colleagues, alumni, and friends of the school. Celebrate the festive season in style with welcome drinks, a delicious three-course seasonal menu, and dancing to our resident DJ until late. This is a perfect opportunity to celebrate the season with your friends from the Rydal Penrhos family. Limited places are available, so to book your tickets now, please click here.
Pre-School and Key Stage 1 Nativity
On Monday 11 December in the Prep Hall, our youngest pupils will be taking to the stage for this year’s Pre-School and Key Stage 1 Nativity. The annual nativity is undoubtedly the cutest part of our Christmas calendar. Parents will have the opportunity to see their young ones take centre stage in front of the community, making it a truly heart-warming experience.
Senior Inter-House Christmas Song Contest
The four Senior Houses – Morgan, Osborn, Payne, and Wesley – will battle it out for this year’s bragging rights as the Inter-House Christmas Song Contest returns on Thursday 14 December. This beloved contest has seen moments of real spirit, togetherness, laughter, and joy. With Osborn narrowly leading the race for the Yeung Bowl House Cup from Morgan, there is everything to play for at this critical inter-house competition.
Christmas Carol Concert
Later that day, we welcome you to join us at St John’s Church for our traditional Christmas Carol Concert. Pupils, staff, parents, carers, alumni, and friends of the school will come together for an evening of singing beloved Christmas carols. Approaching the church in the crisp, dark winter evening and witnessing the light emanating from the stained-glass windows is a truly magical way to begin the evening – which later ends with some delicious mulled wine and mince pies!
We cannot wait to celebrate the wonderful Advent season with you at Rydal Penrhos. With term resuming tomorrow, very soon it will be beginning to look a lot like Christmas!
