It was a day of close competition, camaraderie and commitment as Rydal Penrhos’ annual Key Stage 2 Swimming Gala returned for 2025.
At Rydal Penrhos School, we are proud to offer a full and diverse school calendar. From academics to the arts, sports to school trips, every day at school for our pupils is an opportunity to grow and thrive.
When it comes to the sporting calendar, our Inter-House Swimming Gala remains a key fixture – an annual celebration of the incredible swimming skill and progress; all made possible by weekly lessons in our in-house 25m Swimming Pool.
This year’s gala was once again a superb occasion, marked by enthusiasm, teamwork and impressive swimming. Pupils from all four houses – Morgan, Payne, Osborn and Wesley – came together for a day of spirited competition.
With a full programme of events ranging from freestyle and backstroke to relays and novelty races, the energy in the pool was mirrored by lively support from the poolside. The atmosphere throughout was one of encouragement, celebration and pride. The “strong sense of community” that Estyn observed was there for all to see.
All competitors gave their best, showing determination, sportsmanship and clear progress. Particularly notable were the high levels of participation, some excellent individual performances, and strong teamwork during the relay events.
A special thank you goes to the Prep School staff who gave their time and expertise – whether organising swimmers, timekeeping, managing heats or offering encouragement. Their efforts ensured the event ran smoothly and were greatly appreciated.
Congratulations to Payne House, who claimed victory with 94 points, followed closely by Osborn (90), Wesley (82), and Morgan (76).
We look forward to building on this momentum as our curriculum swimming lessons continue, and swim squad fixtures and competitions approach.
