What can I expect to see at Open Day?

At Rydal Penrhos School’s Open Day, visiting families can expect a true insight into school life. From our youngest Pre-School pupils, aged two, to our oldest Sixth Form pupils preparing for university, you will see the broad academic and extracurricular opportunities available to all pupils.

During a full campus tour, parents and carers will explore both the historic heart of Rydal Penrhos and our outstanding modern facilities. Meanwhile, children will be invited to participate in exciting, hands-on activities, giving them a real taste of what life at Rydal Penrhos is like.

Will the Principal be speaking to prospective families?

Yes, he will. Our Principal, Mr Tom Hutchinson, looks forward to meeting all visiting children, parents, carers, and family members. The day’s events will begin with a welcome from Mr Hutchinson, who is eager to share the school’s vision and ethos.

Do I need to book my place at Open Day?

Yes, we ask that all visitors register their place in advance. This can be done using our online form (please click here) or by speaking with a member of our Admissions team.

Where should I arrive for Open Day?

Visitors should enter via the school’s main gates on Pwllycrochan Avenue, opposite Merton Place. From there, please make your way to the Osborn Hall, where teachers, staff, and Prefects will be ready to welcome you and guide you in the right direction – so there’s no need to worry about getting lost!

What time does Open Day start, and what is the schedule?

Arrival and refreshments begin at 10:00, followed by the Principal’s Welcome at 10:30. After Mr Hutchinson’s welcome, children’s activities and parental tours will commence around 10:50, with lunch in the Dining Room around 12:00.

I’ve heard that children will be taking part in activities on the day, is that right?

Yes, that’s right. Based on your child’s interests, they will participate in a selection of activities while parents and carers are touring, designed to give them an insight into the kind of engaging learning that has led to exceptional exam results. From a Maths-inspired Escape Room to a photography session in our Art Studio, there will be something to captivate your child’s unique personality and interests.

Can I join you for lunch afterwards?

Absolutely! We look forward to concluding the day’s events with a nutritious, delicious lunch prepared by our incredible catering team. We understand that nutrition is a key concern for parents and carers, which is why we are excited to showcase the superb array of options our pupils enjoy as part of school meals throughout the week.

I cannot make Open Day but would like to visit the school. Do you have any private tours available?

Yes, we offer private one-to-one tours for those unable to join us for Open Day. These can be scheduled at a date and time that suits you. Please contact our Admissions team to arrange your visit.

Where can I find more information about admissions?

Following your Open Day visit, the Admissions team will send you all the information you need to move on to the next steps of the admissions process. This will include relevant documentation, such as the Registration Form and information on Scholarships and Bursaries.
