Principal's Welcome

Welcome to Rydal Penrhos,

I am delighted to extend a warm and heartfelt welcome to each and every one of you as you embark on a remarkable journey here at Rydal Penrhos. As the new Principal, I am, like you, excited to be part of this vibrant educational community.

Our school has its foundation in the Methodist tradition where all members of our inclusive community are valued for the unique contribution that they bring to our school community. We celebrate individuality and recognise the unique qualities and talents of each pupil. This is expressed in our vision and ethos statement written by John Wesley:

“Do all the good you can,
by all the means you can,
in all the ways you can,
in all the places you can,
at all the times you can,
to all the people you can,
as long as ever you can.”

Joining a new school is often one of the most exciting moments in a young person’s life. It is a time filled with anticipation, as they step into unfamiliar surroundings and form new connections. However, let me assure you that Rydal Penrhos is more than a school; it is a second home, a place where you will find incredible support, caring guidance, and lasting friendships.

Our school  motto, “Veritas Scientia Fides,” echo our core values of Truth, Knowledge, and Faith.

“Veritas” emphasises the pursuit of truth, encouraging pupils to be curious, critical thinkers and seekers of knowledge. The school has a long history of academic excellence and we encourage our pupils to develop a deep understanding of wide range of subjects.

“Scientia” underscores the importance of knowledge and learning, both within the classroom and beyond. Rydal Penrhos strives to provide a diverse education that equips pupils with the skills and knowledge they need for twenty first century living.

“Fides” represents faith and underlines the significance of moral and ethical values in the school’s approach to education. We foster a sense of integrity, compassion and responsibility in our pupils, encouraging them to contribute positively to their communities and the wider world.

Rydal Penrhos honours achievement and promotes pride in ourselves, in our school and in our community.

In the spirit of embracing this ethos, I would like to share with you a guiding principle that has withstood the test of time. It comes from the words of John Wesley, the founder of Methodism. He encouraged us to “Do all the good you can, by all the means you can, in all the ways you can, in all the places you can, at all the times you can, to all the people you can, as long as ever you can.”

These powerful words encapsulate an approach that resonates deeply within our school community. They remind us that education goes beyond the confines of the classroom, extending into the way we interact with one another and the impact we have on the world around us.

Rydal Penrhos creates a nurturing environment that encourages pupils to grow academically, morally, and emotionally. By celebrating individuality, fostering a thirst for knowledge and promoting ethical values, the school prepares our pupils to become well-rounded individuals who contribute positively to society.

The school can best be judged by meeting our pupils, who are well-mannered, kind, respectful, well-educated, hardworking, excellent company and good fun.

We warmly invite you to visit the school and experience the unique educational offer we provide. Meet our talented, hard working and kind pupils, our caring and committed staff and become part of the rich history that is education here at Rydal Penrhos.
